Bayou La Batre

I made a very recent trip down to Bayou La Batre to shoot some of the Shrimp Boats.  While there I met some very nice people who welcomed myself and my two fellow photographers.  It was interesting listening to their stories about the challenges of shrimping and the regulations that really hurt their livelihoods.  It was a common theme among the boat owners.

Motels

There are still quite a few old motels along Highway 90/Government Blvd, including an old Colonel Dixie that is still in operation.

Some of the motels are empty and others have definitely seen better days.

Fire

Fire is both beautiful and destructive.  For Firefighters it's a love-hate relationship.  It's the same for photographers.

Greater Gulf State Fair

The Fair isn't that far off, I thought I would share a few from last year to get everyone in the mood.

As a photographer there's more to shoot than just the rides; although you can get some pretty interesting shots with long exposures.  I find the people just as interesting as the rides.

Laurel

I was invited by a photographer friend to come along and do a photo shoot she was doing of her niece, Laurel.  I agreed to the invitation because it would give me an opportunity to practice my portrait photography skills.

Laurel was a natural in front of the camera, course it doesn't hurt that her aunt is a photographer. I had a good time doing the shoot and here are a few shots from that day.
